ORGINIZATIONAL EXPERIENCE

DOT has been providing outpatient services for 38 years. These services have included Group Therapy as the primary modality. Research supports Group Therapy as the most productive level of care. DOT was one of the 1st treatment agencies in Michigan to develop a Day Treatment program (now called IOP) for substance use disorders.  We developed an educational level of care in the mid 1980’s, in particular, for clients who were in early stages of abuse/dependency and did not require a more intensive level of care. These groups are still being used especially for the legal system and are now used in Drug Court programs.

We have provided structured Residential services for 26 years for both men and women.

Saginaw County Coordinating Agency awarded DOT with the Outpatient Women’s Program in the early 1990’s.

Other specific outpatient groups are provided to include Seniors Groups, Men’s Recovery Groups, Aftercare Groups, Spouse and Family Groups, Mental Health Groups (now called Co-occurring), Domestic Violence Groups, Anger Management Groups and Case Management/ Recovery Coach Services). We are currently engaged in the Recovery Oriented Systems of Care.

Our ability to provide quality service is supported by continuous referrals since 1981 from agencies such as District and Circuit courts throughout Lower Michigan. Federal Probation and Pretrial Services, local hospitals, doctors, churches, 12-Step groups, EAPs from businesses such as General Motors, Managed Care Agencies, Mid-State Health Network and Northern Michigan Regional Entity and NorthCare Network.

Our history of administrative experience is bountiful with one Founder. The CEO began as a Substance Abuse Counselor then Treatment Director for five years prior to the opening of DOT.  She provided direct treatment services at DOT for 15 years, and then assumed President/CEO position in 1997. She was an active AA member since 1975.

Saginaw Valley Centers, Inc., (DBA, DOT Caring Centers, Inc.) has been operating as a Michigan Based For Profit Corporation since February 17, 1981. We have been licensed by the State of Michigan to provide substance use disorder treatment services since that date also. JCAHO accreditation was granted in 1981 and held until July 2000. In July 2000 we changed to Council on Accreditation (COA) and held full accreditation until 2008. In May of 2008 we changed accreditation to CARF and was awarded with a full three year accreditation. The State licenses allow us to provide Outpatient, Residential and Sub-Acute Detox substance use disorder services at two sites in Lower Michigan. DOT’s corporate office is located at 3190 Hallmark Court, Saginaw MI  48603. The Corporate officers, administrative and billing staff perform duties from that site.
